A remarkable terroir
Located in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, Château de Reignac enjoys a unique geographical position.

A rare and singular terroir worthy of the greatest
The terroir of Château de REIGNAC combines geological characteristics comparable to those of the greatest vineyards on both banks of Bordeaux, giving the estate’s wines remarkable richness, complexity and identity.
An exceptional geological heritage
Whether it is the Fronsadais molasses, the Castillon limestone, starfish limestone or gravel, each of these formations reveals a great diversity of facies, clayey or sandy, and shapes the landscape in a unique way.
This richness and diversity have their origins in the geological history of the area.
Between the Tertiary, around 30 million years ago, and the Quaternary, nearly one million years ago, the region was built up by rivers (Garonne and Dordogne) flowing from the Pyrenées and the Massif Central, by lakes that formed and then filled in, and by the successive advances and retreats of the sea.

A unique geographical location
Château de REIGNAC enjoys a singular location at the confluence of Entre-Deux-Mers, it has geological formations close to those of the great terroirs on both banks.
Its relief varies between 22 and 47 metres in altitude and reveals three major terroirs. Here we find the great geological formations of the Bordeaux region: Fronsadais molasses, Castillon marls and limestones, and gravel from ancient alluvial terraces.
Here, in this privileged place, nature has shaped a remarkable terroir. Erosion has preserved the finest facies of each geological formation and distributed them harmoniously across the landscape, offering excellent exposure and ideal natural drainage.

Precision in the service of terroir
The marked diversity of these terroirs allows us, vintage after vintage, to adapt our work to each year’s climatic conditions.
Drawing on this knowledge acquired over time, we are now experimenting with vinification by grape variety and by terroir, in order to reveal the personality of each plot as accurately as possible.
